OCRS ready to test the New Tulsa Speedway on Friday

by John Rittenoure - TULSA, Okla. (June 28, 2021) - It was 16 years ago when Tulsa Speedway last held a racing event. The north Tulsa track shut down after 20 years of operation.

Two weeks ago the new Tulsa Speedway opened on the grounds of Tulsa Raceway Park bringing weekly sprint car, modified and stock car racing back to Tulsa. Friday the new Tulsa Speedway will host the AmeriFlex / OCRS IMCA sprint cars.

This will be a first for the series and the first time for a majority of OCRS sprint car competitors and fans to see the banked quarter-mile oval.

Veteran Danny Wood of Norman will lead a field of OCRS competitors to Tulsa. Wood took over the points lead on Friday night at Red Dirt Raceway with a fourth place finish then won his first career OCRS main event on Saturday at Southern Oklahoma Speedway.

With 11 events run in 2021 eight different drivers have won feature events. Steven Shebester of mustang has three wins while 2018 champion Alex Sewell has two.

Also racing on the program is A-Mods, and Factory Stocks.
